Open Question: Why are the middle colonies reffered to as a melting pot?

"Sometimes the Middle Colonies are referred to as a melting pot." I don't get it. Why are they referred to as a melting pot? The middle colonies are that of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Can someone please just explain to me how this "melting pot" thing is true?... read more
